About OSP
OSP: A Legacy of Precision and Innovation and Employee Ownership
From a small screw-machine shop in 1945 to a fully employee-owned precision machining leader, OSP delivers quality, integrity, and trusted performance.
Founded in 1945 by H. A. Hewitt as a modest screw-machine job shop, Ohio Screw Products, Inc. (OSP) has grown into an industry-leading precision machining company. Today, OSP operates a 65,000 sq. ft. facility in Elyria, Ohio, serving industries nationwide with ISO-certified quality systems and ITAR compliance to support defense-related projects.
Our Evolution & Capabilities
Incorporated in 1977, OSP swiftly expanded from its original 6,000 sq. ft. facility to today’s robust 65,000 sq. ft. campus. Over decades, we have honed expertise in a wide range of materials, including brass, aluminum, stainless steel, alloy steels, nylon, and copper.
With ISO certification ensuring quality management and ITAR registration supporting military and aerospace applications, OSP stands apart as a trusted partner for high-stakes industries such as defense, automotive, and electrical.
Employee Ownership: The Core of Our Culture
In 2007, OSP began its transition into an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). By 2013, the company was fully employee-owned. This culture of employee ownership has become a powerful driver of engagement, accountability, and performance.
New hires are educated on ESOP benefits during onboarding, and every year brings ESOP statements and celebrations—reinforcing ownership values and long-term loyalty.
Innovation Meets Tradition
OSP’s resilience through challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic showcases our commitment to agility. Instead of merely weathering the storm, we used the pause to evolve—upgrading to modern technologies like live-tool milling while retaining specialized traditional machining methods.
This combination of advanced technology and proven craftsmanship, supported by our ISO and ITAR certifications, allows us to handle both legacy and cutting-edge parts while meeting rigorous quality and regulatory standards.
Strategic Growth & Financial Stewardship
Our long-term strategy is deliberate and forward-looking. OSP leadership maintains rolling one-year, three-year, and five-year plans focused on:
-
Investing in advanced technologies
-
Diversifying product offerings
-
Expanding into new markets
We pair this vision with disciplined financial oversight, ensuring the company’s sustainability and continued compliance with international quality standards (ISO) and defense regulations (ITAR).
